Must Listen Radio...Must Read Article

On today's show we have Sister Karen Dabdoub, Director of Cincinnati's local CAIR office. We'll discuss the reasons for Americans having such a fear of Muslims and Islam. We'll get some great insight from an article by Louay M. Safi that you simply must read!

In a Reuters article the idea is proffered that the mistrust of Muslims and negative attitudes about Islam are largely a result of ignorance. Research has shown that roughly 25-35% of Americans share these negative views while the vast majority of Americans are neutral on Islam and Muslims. I propose that it is this neutrality that is a result of ignorance. The negativity comes from a systematic campaign of misinformation that has its roots in nineteenth century Orientalism. Read the Louay article to learn more. The aforementioned research proved that those Americans who actually knew Muslims and had accurate information about Islam were far more likely to have positive feelings.
