We've moved to 8:00 pm!

We've decided to move the program to 8:00pm for several reasons:
1) The spot opened up!
2) This time of year the sunset prayer occurs during the 5:00 pm hour.
3) More people are home at 8:00 pm that will be able to call in.
4) There will be fewer conflicts with football and basketball.
On this week's show I'll be joined by Robert Harris of Bridgws for a Just Community formerly NCCJ.
Please listen this week and every week!

Must Listen Radio...Must Read Article

On today's show we have Sister Karen Dabdoub, Director of Cincinnati's local CAIR office. We'll discuss the reasons for Americans having such a fear of Muslims and Islam. We'll get some great insight from an article by Louay M. Safi that you simply must read!

In a Reuters article the idea is proffered that the mistrust of Muslims and negative attitudes about Islam are largely a result of ignorance. Research has shown that roughly 25-35% of Americans share these negative views while the vast majority of Americans are neutral on Islam and Muslims. I propose that it is this neutrality that is a result of ignorance. The negativity comes from a systematic campaign of misinformation that has its roots in nineteenth century Orientalism. Read the Louay article to learn more. The aforementioned research proved that those Americans who actually knew Muslims and had accurate information about Islam were far more likely to have positive feelings.

Some Old Business plus Church/State Separation.

Assalaamu Alaikum,

This week on the program we'll discuss briefly the relationship between the U.S. and Israel in an effort to follow up on a caller's comments two weeks ago. This isnot a topic I intend to dwell on but I think it's important for people to have the facts so here are two links: First an article by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt discussing the Israel Lobby. Next a piece by Rabbi Michael Lerner written over the summer in response to the Israeli war on Lebanon.

Then we'll talk about Church and State issues with what I hope will be a fresh perspective.

Keep listening.

Day off!

We won't be doing a show this week due to college basketball. Keep checking for updates on topics and guests.

Welcome!

Last week on the radio show I promised to set up a blog that would provide our listeners with an opportunity to find out more about our topics and guests and leave us feedback. I slao want to use this to post links to articles about our topics. This was all prompted by a call we got last week from an individuall who had a question about Surah 9:5 in the Qur'an. I know that this type of question will keep coming up so I'm linking to one of the best articles I could find about this particular subject, just click here to check it out.

God willing in the future I'll have more resources for you about various topics regarding Islam and the Muslim community here in America.

For now just keep listening and calling in.

Peace be with you and your families.
